Anyway, I don't think some of you understand what i'm trying to put across, so let me say again, in broad english.

I have my own ideas. I can go "outside" and think up an idea. I am a creative person. However, I am in the mood for turning someone elses idea into a script.

NOW, if you're too thick to understand this, then any sane person wouldn't give away their "gems". They'd just write down one of their old ideas. I hardly doubt every idea everyone comes up with is classed to them as a "gem", if it were, surely you'd be making them by now?

So i'm looking for throw away ideas, short storylines that can be turned into features etc. And it's not that im not creative or want to "steal" someone elses idea, it's because this is a goddamn forum where people come to share thoughts and ideas.

Why for example, when someone posts a topic about "how to make a dolly" do we share our ideas, yet when such a topic like this, asking for ideas about scripts, does everyone get as tight as a hetrosexuals ass?!

Do you think script writers at the BBC come up with all their own ideas? No! Someone has a "creative thought", plans it a little with a team of about 50 people and then a script guy goes away and writes it. Yet he doesn't get bitching from the rest of the team saying "oh, you've stolen this guys idea." or "it wasn't your idea in the first place."

Of course the fuck not! He's employed to WRITE other peoples ideas!! I'm not employed to do this, im bloody OFFERING. I'd just like to write, and I'd like to see what creative people who aren't ME are thinking! What ideas THEY have, etc.

So enough of this "MODS!!111 GET YOR OAN IDEEARS!!!!1!" bullshit, it's not like i don't have a brain, thank you very much.

What is this? Some of you seem pretty stupid. I mean go back and read Mods initial post. There's no way the guy was looking for some collaboration or creative partnership.
I'm sorry Mods but from reading your initial post I can't help but get a picture of a self-satisfied smug individual who actually believes he's so talented that others will rush to impart their ideas on him and then stand back in amazement as you write their idea into an incredible feature script.

Mods did not post that he wanted to collaborate on a new venture so lets not conveniently sideline this thred into a debate about collaboration vs self creation. Both of those two things are great and they form the back bone of film making. But Mods wasn't looking to collaborate... he was looking to take.

I can't decide which is lamer... that Mods wanted to take someone elses idea or that he was stupid enough to publicly post that he was looking to take someone elses idea. Your fuckin funny man... :U

And for others, I like your sense of "your not having my idea" competition, but don't you think perhaps your going a little over the top? How, for example, do you know if magically i used your idea, turned it into a script, sent it to Jerry Buckheimer studios and got it turned into a real film, that i wouldnt credit you? Or make sure you got paid?

Why? Cos you don't know me. Perhaps before you go ranting about me "using other peoples ideas" as being "lame" you should ask some foundation questions first, like,
- Why do you want my idea?
- What will you do with my idea?
etc.

people here are so paranoid... shit!!... there should be a free exchange of ideas without fear of someone else stealing them. Besides are we really that desperate to be "stealing" other peoples ideas. If you ask me if you havent got any ideas you will be found out to be the hack you are sooner or later.

And on another note i agree with redlum in the fact that we seem to be very casual in the way we look at the script writing process - no wonder writers get shitted on...
